About San Luis Obispo

Located on California’s stunning Central Coast, The Villages abounds with opportunities to experience the unique settings of the surrounding areas. Bordered by Monterey County to the north and Santa Barbara County to the south, San Luis Obispo is famous for its great weather, breathtaking views and vibrant community.

Nestled just a short distance from the Pacific coastline between Los Angeles and San Francisco, San Luis Obispo offers many opportunities to experience the outdoors. California State Parks are within a short drive for peaceful nature walks. The county is also peppered with several beautiful golf courses to choose from. Take one of the scenic tours offered regularly (and often!) by The Villages and explore the Central Coast area. Chances to enjoy the natural beauty of the area are limitless.

SLO County is host to world-class wineries and acres of picturesque vineyards paired with a number of remarkable restaurants that are guaranteed to please any palate.

The weekly Farmer’s Market is nationally renowned and one of the area's most popular events. Held in downtown San Luis Obispo every Thursday from 6-9 p.m., the quaint streets come alive with live music, street-side BBQs and booths of flowers, fruits and vegetables and arts and crafts.

Also home to California Polytechnic State University, the area is filled with educational and entertainment opportunities. Lectures, classes, exhibits and performances at the Performing Arts Center located on campus are readily available throughout the year.
